Detailed description

In different countries in the world people are arrested because they have a different opinion from the government of that country. Amnesty International tries to release these prisoners of conscience and to ensure that people are protected. Amnesty tries to put pressure on governments through publicity, letters and signatures. There are also many volunteers who send a card on behalf of Amnesty to prisoners of conscience, to let them know that they are being thought of.

Job description:

You can contribute to this by organizing a writing campaign at your school yourself. Discuss with your internship coordinator or mentor at your school when you can organize this writing campaign. This can be on one day, but you can also divide this over several moments, for example during the English class or during the break in the canteen. The point is that you write as many letters as possible with a lot of fellow students at your school. You start your internship by making an e-learning on the Amnesty website. In this way, you first learn about Amnesty and human rights yourself and immediately completed 1.5 hours for your social internship. Then you make appointments at your school yourself. As soon as these agreements have been made, you can request the step-by-step plan and materials for your writing campaign via a message. Amnesty helps you with the subjects, sample letters and addresses. You will also receive all necessary materials such as posters, writing pads, envelopes and pens for free via Amnesty. Independence and some enthusiasm. You must enjoy explaining to others why the letter is being written and what they should do, which is to sign the letter or copy it yourself. You also arrange the preparation and appointments where you put the action table yourself, so being able to organize and plan a bit is also important. For more information, visit the Amnesty International Nederland website, at Social Internship!
