Detailed description

TeamUp is a joint project of War Child, Save the Children and UNICEF Netherlands. The program offers sports, games and exercise, especially for refugee children. This way they can relax, give their bad experiences a place and be a child again. More than one hundred and fifty volunteers work weekly on sports, games and exercise activities for refugee children in the Netherlands.

Job description:

As a volunteer you will be part of an enthusiastic team of at least four volunteers. You and your team supervise activities for refugee children from 6 to 18 years at a fixed time during the week. These activities have a theme and purpose. In a playful way, the children learn to deal with anger, fear and stress, for example. You also have a signaling role. You will learn how to recognize worrying behavior and, if necessary, refer children to specialized care and guidance. We provide proper training before you start. You are willing to follow a training of two days beforehand after three months of activity, also two days of follow-up training. You will be trained in facilitating the activities and working with the specific target group.

Job requirements:

You are 21 years or older; You have experience in organizing recreational activities for children or relevant training in pedagogy, education, sports, games and / or exercise. Even if you have just dropped out of education or are still studying, we invite you to apply; You are available 4 hours a week (excluding travel time) from approximately 3.30 pm (the day on which the activities take place differs per location); You intend to commit to the project for the longer term. Stability is essential for this vulnerable group of children;
